Teletrips History

Teletrips brings together three organizations with strong legacies in distributed work, all sharing the philosophy that program decisions must be anchored in real data:

Teletrips

Was founded in 2001 to track and capture carbon emissions savings from mobile sources created by telework and other trip avoidance behaviour. Teletrips’ robust tracking and measurement tools have been used by the US EPA, and Canada’s annual Commuter Challenge, as well as other government agencies, and private corporations in both the US and Canada. Over the past few years Teletrips tools have been expanded to measure a broad suite of environmental, societal, financial, and economic impacts that accrue from distributed work.

Sun Open Work Practice

In early 2008 Teletrips merged with the former practice leaders from Sun Microsystems’ Open Work team. Over the last 12 years, this team has designed and implemented telework programs in every major world market for both private and public organizations. Their method leverages a proven framework for integrating the Human Resources, Real Estate/Workplace, and Information Technology components necessary for successful distributed work. A key part of the approach focuses on developing telework skills for employees, showing their managers and companies how to manage and support them for best results.

Facet Decision Systems Inc.

Was founded in 1991, and is a world leader in Triple Bottom Line (3BL) decision support tools and process. Their methodology ties implementation to a clear set of intended business outcomes, supported by consistent policies, and tracked with a suite of tools that measure 3BL (financial/economic, environmental, and social) impacts of telework programs. This is the only telework planning and monitoring suite that integrates corporate, public sector, and individual employee stakeholder needs into a common framework.
